If you have been to any school in the Provo School District, you have probably heard teachers talking about "CELL/ExLL/Second Chance".  This is in reference to the way our literacy standards are delivered to the students in our district.  It is a framework for classroom instruction to help students meet the NCLB, state, and district standards.

CELL is the PreK-3 framework which is carefully designed to help and support teachers in the teaching the beginning reader develop the necessary skills to master phonics and to develop comprehension.

ExLL is the grades 3-6 framework which supports intermediate teachers in learning hor to effectively teach reading and writing ot students with a wide range of ability levels.

Second Chance is the professional support for teachers who teach in the secondary schools. Second Chance extends the ExLL framework but takes into consideration the differences in school scheduling, and the types of subject matter courses offered inn Grades 6-12.
